66 Productions is proud to present the first and only guide book to concentrate solely on Los Angeles County’s portion of Route 66. Now in its second printing, “Finding the End of the Mother Road: Route 66 in Los Angeles County” was first released in May, 2003, and is self-published and self-distributed. This book is currently for sale through 66 Productions. To order, download the order form here: Order Form (72kb pdf)

Three years of research, writing, and photography went into the production of the book. All of the research, writing, and contemporary photography were done by Scott Piotrowski. Historical postcards, maps, and other items are also present. Hand-drawn maps were provided by Michael Possert Jr. of Circa 1964 Films. Design and layout were done by Julie Keehner for 66 Productions. The first run of printing of the book was done by an independent printer on Route 66 in Pasadena.

“Finding the End of the Mother Road” is over 100 pages in length. It is soft-covered, spiral-bound, and primarily black and white. Detailed driving directions for following all of Route 66 in Los Angeles County are provided in an easy-to-read format. This book is primarily meant as a field guide for those seeking out a Mother Road experience in Metropolitan Los Angeles.

In addition to “Finding the End of the Mother Road,” Piotrowski has supplied photography (including a cover image) to Jon Robinson’s “Route 66: Lives on the Road.” From Motor Books International, “Lives on the Road” was released in May, 2001 and chronicles some first-person accounts of living and working along the famed “Mother Road.”
