YEAH, UH, RAININ' OUTSIDE; I'M'A SLEEP

I just wanted to let everyone know that I may be somewhat absent from the internet for roughly the next week or so, as I'm going on vacation. Be good to each other. I mean this.

BLEEDING-EDGE TECH UPDATE

Anticipating travel and the concomitant waiting, I have purchased for myself a Nintendo DS. It is basically the fanciest portable electronic thing I own aside from maybe one or two other items, but here's the thing: It didn't come with such as a case or a fancy velveteen drawstring gig bag or anything, so I've been carrying it around in my messenger bag (along with the iPod headphones) inside a brown paper sack.

I might draw something on the sack. In marker, maybe. Stay tuned.

LET'S TALK ABOUT ME WITH A BEARD

HO YEAH*

I actually lack the ability to grow facial hair in the density required to grow a beard, FYI

I just think everyone should see those two pictures

ENJOY YOUR EVENING

UNNECESSARY COMEBACK

That "running on the Golden Gate Bridge" idea is going to have to be put on hold until I can subdue this cold I seem to have come down with. Either I caught something from my housemate's boyfriend, or this is the same cold I thought I'd beaten last week, coming back for an unasked-for sequel -- this time with more noseblowing!

Actually, something I've learned is that if you're tired of blowing your nose so much that your septum gets all abraded and sensitive, rubbing a Chap Stick on that part of your face helps a ridiculous amount. Like, more than lotion, I think. Maybe it's just that I don't have any lotion around, but I do have Chap Stick. That has also occurred to me.

BRIDGE RUNNING: I GUESS

I just started to do my MWF morning run thing again, and it just occurred to me today that I could probably do the bulk of it on the Golden Gate Bridge.

I like this idea because
- The bridge makes it easy to quantify exactly how far I feel like running
- It will be windy (easy to cool off)
- Running on the Golden Gate Bridge, c'mon

I am wary of this idea because
- It will be windy (easy to get cold and maybe catch some hideous flu)
- Maybe it'll be too windy to hear my iPod

These seem like sort of stupid objections, though. I think I'll give it a shot on Wednesday and see how it goes. I just wanted to tell you, blogoverse.

FUTURE QUALITY ARCHIVE

I just found out they put Clone High on DVD.

Does anybody else feel like they're buying collections of shows not so much for themselves, but for any theoretical children they may one day have? Relatedly, is it possible that my enthusiasm for these shows may turn these notional childrens' hearts against that for which I'm trying to imbue them with love?

What I'm saying is that if I ever hear something like "Dammit, Dad's going to make us watch Futurama if we don't clean our rooms, hurry up" I am going to run away from my family and start over again with a new one until they come out right.

SOMEWHAT UNEXPECTED?

Something I'm discovering is that I think Quark is my favorite character on Deep Space 9. That dude just puts a smile on my face. This seems kind of counterintuitive, but maybe it's because I'm only on Season 2. I think Sisko is supposed to get awesome once the Dominion stuff really gets going, though, and that definitely occurred after I stopped watching the show.

I AM OLDER

My birthday was this past Saturday!

I forgot to blog about that.

Weekends are kind of a black hole for me, internet-wise. I had an excellent party and was reminded that I know excellent people. That's really all anyone can ask for without being too demanding, I'm pretty sure.

HOUSEMATE'S DOG: STILL HILARIOUS

My housemate Michelle's dog, Bo, is still really god damn funny.

None of us have been able to figure this out, but his favorite room in the whole house is definitely the master bedroom, which doesn't belong to his owner. It belongs to our housemate David. Whenever the door's open, Bo comes upstairs, walks a few feet in, and has a lie-down. I noticed this behavior immediately after he and Michelle moved in. What's the appeal? None of us know. It's not like David keeps bacon in low-lying open containers or something. Bo doesn't even seem interested in hanging out with David -- he'll go in there when he's not home. He just really loves that spot for some inscrutable reason. This is a secret Bo is likely to take to his grave, along with what breed or mix of breeds he is. That's something else nobody can seem to pin down.

Unrelatedly, I finally updated the Dogblog. That took longer than I thought it would.

HOT THUNDERY DAMN

Roughly a minute ago I heard thunder outside my office building. Thunder! We never get thunderstorms here. Respect to the people who've suffered through hurricane season and all who probably never want to see a cloud again, but I damn well miss a good thunderstorm.
